The Closing Awards Ceremony recognizes excellence with three awards, attended by Michelle Yeoh and Luc BessonWednesday 1, 2012
(29 Jan 2012) The InterContinental Hua Hin Resort was the venue for the Closing Awards Ceremony of the Hua Hin International Film Festival 2012. Mr. Suwat Liptapanlop, Festival Chairman, together with the lead actress and director of the “The Lady”, Michelle Yeoh and Luc Besson celebrated a successful first year for the event, and presented awards to the winning films of the festival. Mr, Suwat Liptapanlop, on behalf of the festival committee, and the National Federation of Thai Film Associations first presented awards to the Thai film companies who presented films for screening in the festival. A number of esteemed celebrities and filmmakers from Thailand, Asia, and Hollywood attended the ceremony, including our special guests, Michelle Yeoh and Luc Besson. Honorable Awards were presented to: Terance Chang” for his contribution to both Asian and Hollywood cinema, and for helping to create a bridge between film cultures. Luc Besson, for his support for Asian cinema, and in recognition of excellence for his film “The Lady”. The film, “It Gets Better”, as the film which was voted by the visiting public to receive the Audience Award. Concluding the festival, Suwat Liptapanlop hoped that the festival would leave a positive impression, and promote Hua Hin internationally. In addition, through the seminars program at the Vic Hua Hin, valuable business contacts were made, and important knowledge and experiences shared in the pursuit of continual growth within the ASEAN film industry. As this first Hua Hin International Film Festival drew to a close, everyone hoped that this would prove to be just the first step towards creating a lasting international reputation. |
